Portland Kindergarten

Portland Kindergarten provides nursery care for up to 32 full and part-time children between 0-5 years of age. There is also a 20 place pre-school playgroup which is graduate led by a qualified Early Years Professional.

The building which was formerly a family home has been completely renovated to provide a full range of play facilities in a friendly and cosy environment.

Our objective is for the children to be happy and content, ensuring that they gain confidence and feel secure, thus enabling them to progress and learn. The Kindergarten will provide a happy stimulating and varied day with the aid of a wide variety of educational toys and activities. Our Nursery Staff will give your child a well balanced day including indoor and outdoor play which stimulates their physical and mental development. Your child will be encouraged to take an interest in the basic skills of reading, writing, number work, music and creative art.

In 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006 & 2009 our Nursery was inspected by Ofsted. Copies of these reports are available to all parents on request. The Nursery was judged to provide a curriculum which covers the 6 main learning areas seen as necessary to prepare all children of 4 years and over for school.
